Yikes...

I've been neglecting this blog! Even Lola is embarrassed. I promise to get back in the swing of things tomorrow...

Um...

This little schnauzer in his sweater is killing me. If Lola wouldn't throw a complete fit when wearing anything resembling clothing, I would be all over these. She can't even stand to wear a harness. (It's possible I really did scar her with that bee costume). They say dogs like to have jobs, so maybe if I got her one with a "backpack?" Look, sheAdd Image could carry our keys...
Can you see his left eye, looking up at the camera? Dude does not look happy. {Images and sweaters from knitopia}

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I know, I know - that is the most original title for this post, ever. Take a second to recover from my witty creativity...

I couldn't come up with a better title because I am too busy feeling really proud of myself, and one can only type so much while simultaneously patting themselves on the back. Listen, I am not exaggerating when I say I've been trying to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie for years. My Mom is no doubt shaking her head as she reads this, recounting all the times I enlisted her to help me out with a new recipe and thinking something along the lines of "here she goes with the cookie talk."

So now, after decades of trying, imagine my excitement when I found the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. I've even made them twice out of fear that the first batch was a fluke. They are gooey and soft and just the right amount of chocolate-y, and I may or may not be crying about it right now. This gift from heavens was sent down from the ever lovely Stephmodo, who apparently got the recipe from a friend. Read her post here or just follow the directions below. I accept thank you's in the form of cash, chocolate, or beautiful trinkets.

Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs (room temp if possible)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (feel free to throw in the whole bag if you like them super chocolate-y)

Cream butter, brown sugar and white sugar together in a mixer. Then add the eggs, one at a time. Beat until creamy. Add the vanilla.

In another bowl mix the dry ingredients together before slowly adding them to the creamed mixture. When combined, stop the mixer and add the semi-sweet chips. Mix up and then drop by the teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Mold them into a ball as best as you can with the spoon for a more shaped cookie.

Bake on 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Place on wire rack to cool. Enjoy!

Note: I had to bake mine for about 11 minutes, but our oven was crafted by blind monkeys at the turn of the century. Also, that picture above is actually of the cookies I made. I am only a little sorry to say that they are no longer with us.

Look Out World...

Yours truly finally got a new camera over the weekend! Now I am officially the girl who walks around the city carrying a camera, just in case the overwhelming need to photograph a church should come up.

And naturally, my favorite subject is still the same. After an entire weekend Lola is finally getting a little tired of the camera in her face, but on Friday she was still a willing participant (okay, more like she'll take any and all attention she can get).
